Our History

Ghost Ridge was established in 2006 by owner, Tarry Bratton. While simultaneously running a successful business, Tarry had been involved in thoroughbred racing for many years. As his father had owned race horses and breeding mares, Tarry decided to take a more personal and active role in the thoroughbred industry. Starting small, Tarry purchased a few race horses and the farm has grown steadily into a full service operation. Ghost Ridge is home to two stallions, Alex’s Pal and Dixie’s Prodigy, along with a substantial broodmare band while several nationwide clients board their horses with Ghost Ridge Farms.

To continue providing excellent care and services, Ghost Ridge has expanded with the increase in clients and boarded horses. Based in Brogue PA, spanning 100 acres in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Pennsylvania, as the farm's intake of boarding clients grew, the need for more farmland was necessary. In 2008, Ghost Ridge acquired Two Ponds Farm in Freysville, PA which is a short distance from the main farm in Brogue. 2009 has brought the need for more property with the growing success of our stallions and the breeding program. Less than a mile from the main farm, another farm was purchased where the new stallion unit and mare barn is being built.

The goal of Ghost Ridge is that every horse receives the individual attention that he/she requires to insure the best opportunity for that horse to succeed in the thoroughbred industry, in a time that seems to have lost that personal touch with ever growing numbers of horses on corporate farms, Ghost Ridge strives to clients that intimate experience along with the success of being a part of one of the top breeding farms in Pennsylvania.
